An article in today's Times: Green Weddings by Mireya Navarro, speaks of the green movements' affect on wedding planning. Some things, we do, without a hightened sense of environmental awareness. We rent the tables, the china, the linen. We probably rent the venue in a central location without thinking about the total savings in carbon emissions. Maybe our caterer already buys local and the florist grows local. But do you think about renting the dress, first? Do you think about donations, rather than gifts? Do you think about recycled paper for the invitations? Maybe the guest list could be shorter. Maybe the wedding can be planned during daylight or part of the daylight hours. Then there's always the chance to elope. We know some of you are thinking about it. But are you framing the question as an environmental one?
